Marie Blancour is an artist of mystery, except for this one painting A Bowl of Flowers, housed within the National Gallery collection. So little is known about her except that she was alive in the 17th-century, presumed to have been painting between 1650 and 1699. As a presumed French artist, engaging in the popular Dutch-flowers oil painting style at the time, having signed her own work, we can assume she was a proud, aspirational and trailblazing woman of her time.
